From community guest rooms with meals included to Turin hotels for city-combining — every option for where to rest between your encounters with Damanhur.
For visitors joining multi-day programmes, courses, or extended group visits, on-site accommodation at Damanhur places you inside the living community — the most immersive option available.
Guest rooms within the community nuclei are simple, clean, and warm. The emphasis is on function over luxury — these are the same kinds of rooms community members live in, adapted for guests. You eat with the community, you share the spaces of daily life, and you experience Damanhur from the inside rather than as a visitor at the gates.
Meals are included — communal breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all prepared with organic produce from the community farm. Dietary needs are accommodated with advance notice.
Guest rooms are reserved for programme participants, course attendees, multi-day group stays, and individuals with a genuine intention to learn from an extended visit. Day visitors are not offered on-site accommodation.

The Valchiusella valley surrounding Damanhur is dotted with farm stays — authentic Italian agriturismo combining local food, mountain air, and easy access to the site. Typically 2–15 kilometres from Damanhur.
Stone farmhouses in the valley offer rooms with mountain views, home-cooked breakfast, and the characteristic quiet of Piedmontese rural life. Ideal for visitors who want to combine a Damanhur day visit with the slower pace of valley life.
Several organic wine estates in the surrounding hills offer B&B accommodation in converted farmhouse buildings. Some produce biodynamic wine and run their own farm education activities — complementary in spirit to a Damanhur visit.
Simple, nature-focused accommodation in the chestnut forests above the valley. These smallest and most rustic options — often just 2–4 rooms — suit visitors seeking complete quiet and natural immersion between temple visits.
Larger agriturismo with organised activities — local food workshops, cheese making, guided valley walks. These work well for groups who want a programme of activities beyond Damanhur itself, combining culture, nature, and food.
Search local agriturismo via agriturismo.it and filter by "Valchiusella" or "Canavese." We recommend contacting us first — we sometimes have specific recommendations based on current knowledge of local hosts.
Ivrea — UNESCO World Heritage city and home of the legendary Carnevale — lies 18 kilometres from Damanhur. It offers the widest range of accommodation for visitors who prefer a town base.
Ivrea has 15–20 hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses covering a wide price range. From three-star business hotels to boutique rooms in historic buildings — Ivrea suits most budgets and preferences.
Particularly recommended for first-time visitors who prefer the security of a known town base with restaurants, public transport links, and services nearby. Day trips to Damanhur (25 minutes by car, or by bus with connection) are easily managed from Ivrea.
The UNESCO heritage designation covers Ivrea's early 20th-century urban planning legacy — the Olivetti industrial complex designed as a model of worker welfare. Those interested in alternative community models will find unexpected resonance with Damanhur in Ivrea's own history.

Turin — Torino — is 40 kilometres from Damanhur and offers the full spectrum of city hotel accommodation. Ideal for visitors combining a Damanhur visit with a longer Italian city trip.
Turin is one of Italy's most underrated cities — elegant Baroque architecture, world-class museums (the Egyptian Museum is one of the finest outside Egypt), exceptional food culture, and a metropolitan energy unlike any other Italian city. It makes an outstanding base for a Damanhur visit combined with 1–2 days of city exploration.
The full range of accommodation is available — from five-star hotels in historic palaces to budget hostels and Airbnb apartments in the Quadrilatero Romano neighbourhood. The city's public transport is excellent for getting to the Porta Susa or Porta Nuova train stations, from which trains to Ivrea run regularly.
A suggested itinerary: arrive in Turin, explore the city for a day, travel to Damanhur for a day or two, return to Turin for departure. The Egyptian Museum resonates unexpectedly with Damanhur's Egyptian-influenced sacred art.
Damanhur is in a valley. Getting here is part of the journey. Here are your transport options depending on where you are staying.
Most convenient. From Turin: A5 motorway direction Aosta, exit Albiano d'Ivrea, then follow signs to Baldissero Canavese. From Ivrea: SP565 toward Valchiusella. Free parking at the welcome centre.
Local GTT buses serve the Valchiusella valley from Ivrea. Check current timetables with GTT (Gruppo Torinese Trasporti). Service is limited on weekends — plan ahead. Journey approximately 35–45 minutes.
Regular trains from Turin Porta Nuova and Turin Porta Susa to Ivrea (45–60 minutes). From Ivrea station, take a local bus or taxi to Damanhur. Pre-book taxis from Ivrea in advance.
Taxis from Ivrea to Damanhur take approximately 25 minutes and cost €25–€35 one way. We recommend booking in advance — Ivrea taxis are not always immediately available. Ask the Welcome Office for recommended local taxi contacts.
Turin Caselle Airport (TRN) — 55 km. Milan Malpensa (MXP) — 100 km. Direct buses from both airports to Turin city centre, then train to Ivrea. Car hire from Turin airport is the most convenient option for most international visitors.
For group visits and programme participants, the Welcome Office can sometimes arrange shared transfers from Ivrea station. Mention this when booking — not always available but worth asking.
The right accommodation and the right length of stay depend entirely on what you are seeking. Here is our honest guide to choosing.
Email welcome@dhwelcome.org with your proposed dates, group size, programme interest, and any accessibility needs. Availability is limited — book as far in advance as possible, especially for summer months and around community events.
Search agriturismo.it for Valchiusella and Canavese region options. Standard booking via phone or email directly with hosts. Most local hosts speak Italian — a translation tool helps for non-Italian speakers. Book 4–8 weeks ahead for summer.
Standard booking platforms (Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia) all have good coverage of Ivrea and Turin. Turin fills quickly in late spring and during events (Carnevale in February, Salone del Gusto in October). Book well ahead.
If you are joining a Damanhur Academy programme, WisdomLab event, or extended community course, your accommodation is arranged as part of the programme booking. Contact the specific programme coordinator for details — do not book separately unless specifically advised to do so.
