From Visitor to Citizen
Becoming a Damanhurian citizen is a gradual, mutual process of discovery. The community and the individual both need time to understand whether the fit is right. The path is not a test — it's a journey of mutual acquaintance.
Visit & Explore
Attend public events, take guided Temple tours, participate in courses, or complete a work-exchange. This is the phase of curiosity — no commitment required. Many people visit Damanhur for years before deciding to pursue membership.
Extended Stay & Guest Membership
After initial visits, interested individuals arrange an extended stay — typically a work-exchange or guest residency. You live in the community, attend orientation sessions, and participate in daily life without full commitment on either side.
Candidacy Declaration
If both you and the community feel a mutual call, you formally declare candidacy for citizenship. A nucleo (small community group) invites you to join their household. You begin attending philosophical study, community assemblies, and working groups.
Provisional Citizenship
You receive a Damanhurian name — a plant-and-animal combination that reflects your character — and begin full participation. Economic integration begins gradually. You continue your philosophical studies and participate in ceremonies.
Full Citizenship Ceremony
After a period of provisional membership, full citizenship is celebrated in a community ceremony. You now hold full voting rights, complete economic participation, and the full embrace of community life. The journey to citizenship is complete — but the journey of growth never ends.
Rights & Responsibilities
Damanhur is a functioning micro-nation with a constitution, elected bodies, and a civic code. Citizens have genuine rights — and genuine responsibilities — enshrined in the community's foundational documents.
