The
Nuclei

The nucleo is the foundational unit of life at Damanhur — intentional households of 10–20 people organised around shared values, daily meals, creative work, and spiritual practice. There are currently four main nuclei across the Valchiusella valley.

Home, Community
& Purpose Together

A nucleo is more than shared housing. It is a deliberate community of practice — a group of people who have chosen to live, work, eat, and grow together under a shared structure of governance, care, and contribution to the wider federation.

Each nucleo typically has 10–20 resident members across multiple generations. Members maintain their own professional lives — working in the community's enterprises or externally — while contributing typically 15–20 hours per week to collective life: cooking, gardening, building, ceremony, and governance.

The nucleo structure was one of Falco Tarassaco's early innovations — a recognition that a community of hundreds cannot function as a single household, but needs sub-units of genuine human scale to maintain intimacy, accountability, and care.

Where Community
Members Live

Primary Nucleus
Damjl

The federation's central hub — home to the Welcome Center, the main administrative functions, and the largest concentration of residents. The Temples of Humankind lie beneath Damjl territory.

Arts Nucleus
Damanhur Crea

Home to the School of Sacred Art, printmaking workshops, music studios, and the community's primary creative enterprises. The artistic lifeblood of the federation.

Healing Nucleus
Etulte

Focus on holistic health, Selfic healing practices, the School of Healers, and the community's medical and therapeutic offering. Also hosts the Selfic Cabins.

Academy Nucleus
Tentyris

The intellectual and educational heart — the Academy's teaching facilities, library, the Mystery School, and the dream research archive reside here.

Academic note: The names and composition of nuclei have changed over the community's 50-year history. The names above reflect the 2024–2026 configuration. ACADEMICOFFICIAL

Former Member Perspective

Former residents describe the schedule as both enriching and demanding — the depth of community connection is genuinely experienced, but the expectation of continuous participation can create pressure. Both experiences are consistently reported and are presented here without resolution. FORMER_MEMBER
