Your First
Hour

All visits begin with a 30–45 minute introduction to Damanhur's history, philosophy, and the story of the Temples' construction. This introduction is required — it gives the context that transforms the underground experience from visually impressive to genuinely meaningful.

The introduction takes place in a meeting room at the Welcome Center before you descend. Seats are provided, and guides speak in your requested language. Former visitors note the introduction as polarising — some find it essential, others feel impatient to get underground. We note both responses honestly.

Frequently
Asked

Yes, in most areas. Flash photography and tripods are not permitted. Your guide will indicate any restricted areas (some ritual spaces have no photography). Personal video and smartphones are generally fine.
The underground space is quite large — we are talking about cathedral-scale halls, not narrow tunnels. However, some passages are low (1.8m) and some corridors are narrow. Contact us to discuss your specific concerns before booking; guides can help you identify the most comfortable visit type.
Booking is always required — guides and group sizes are pre-allocated. Walk-ins are occasionally possible in off-season (October–May) but cannot be guaranteed. Always call or email in advance.
No official minimum. Children as young as 6 have successfully completed the Classic Visit. We recommend the 4 Halls Tour (2 hours) for families with younger children. The In-Depth and One Day visits involve extended time underground and suit children 10+.
Groups depart at the confirmed time. If you miss your group, contact the Welcome Center immediately — in some cases we can integrate you with a later group. No-show cancellation policy applies within 48 hours.
