Fifty Years of Written Knowledge

The Library of
Damanhur

Over five decades, Falco Tarassaco and the citizens of Damanhur have produced one of the most distinctive bodies of spiritual literature in the contemporary world — channelled cosmologies, research into Selfica and plant consciousness, philosophical treatises, sacred histories, and community chronicles. This is their collected work.

The Founder's Voice

Books by Falco Tarassaco

Oberto Airaudi — Falco Tarassaco — authored more than 150 books across four decades, ranging from dense philosophical treatises to lyrical cosmological narratives, practical guides to esoteric practice, and the extraordinary body of channelled sacred texts received through the community's oracle tradition. These six titles represent the works most widely read beyond Damanhur's own community and most frequently translated into English, German, French, and Japanese.

The Sacred Guardians

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
Published posthumously from manuscripts completed in the final years of Falco's life, The Sacred Guardians represents his most complete statement on the nature of the invisible beings he called the Quesiti and their relationship to humanity's evolution. The book unfolds across three interlocking narratives: a cosmological account of the origin of guardianship forces in the universe, a philosophical exploration of the relationship between human consciousness and non-human intelligences, and a practical guide to developing the inner sensitivity required to perceive and communicate with guardian presences. This is Falco at his most synthesising — drawing on 40 years of direct experience, communal research, and the oracle tradition to offer a coherent and challenging vision of what it means to be a conscious being in a universe populated by intelligences of radically different kinds. Essential reading for anyone seeking to understand the metaphysical foundations of Damanhur's spiritual culture.

The Initiate's Handbook

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
The Initiate's Handbook is the most widely used practical text within Damanhur's School of Meditation, and the single book most recommended to newcomers and prospective citizens. It charts the first year of the Damanhurian spiritual path in accessible but never superficial language: the nature and development of the subtle bodies, the practice of inner synchronisation, the use of sacred geometry in daily life, the first encounters with the oracle tradition, and the cultivation of what Falco called "divine animal awareness" — the capacity to perceive one's own existence as both rooted in the body and extended across dimensions of consciousness not ordinarily accessible. The book is structured as a series of 52 weekly practices, making it suitable for self-guided study over the course of a year. Each practice includes a theoretical explanation, a guided meditation, a journal prompt, and a recommended community exercise. Translations available in Italian, English, German, French, and Japanese.

Synchronic Lines

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
Synchronic Lines is Falco's definitive account of the invisible energetic highways he understood to criss-cross the Earth's surface — channels of force that connect sacred sites, influence consciousness, and create windows of heightened possibility for those who know how to navigate them. Drawing on 35 years of community research, dowsing practice, and first-person accounts of synchronic experience, the book maps the global network of these lines and offers detailed guidance on how to locate, attune to, and consciously use them in daily spiritual practice. Chapters include: the discovery of the synchronic line beneath Damanhur's founding site; the construction of the Temples as a deliberate intersection of multiple synchronic currents; methods for personal navigation using synchronic windows; and an account of Damanhur's planetary mapping project, which engaged hundreds of citizens over two decades to chart lines across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. This book is essential reading for anyone interested in Damanhur's contribution to the global conversation about sacred geography and geomancy.

The Book of Selfica

The Book of Selfica

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
The Book of Selfica is the foundational theoretical text for understanding Damanhur's extraordinary science of spirals, metals, colours, and directed intelligence. Selfica — the art of creating living functional objects through the precise arrangement of spiral forms in specific metallic alloys — is one of Damanhur's most distinctive and intellectually challenging contributions to the conversation between spirituality and science. This volume traces the origins of Selfic knowledge through ancient Egypt and the Mediterranean mystery schools, outlines the theoretical principles underlying the Selfic field (the concentrated, directed intelligence that inhabits a well-constructed Selfic object), and provides — for the first time in any publication — a detailed account of the collaborative research through which Damanhur citizens and Falco refined and extended the tradition over 40 years. Illustrated throughout with photographs of Selfic objects, spirals, and laboratory results.

The Many Souls of the Human Being

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
One of the most philosophically ambitious of Falco's works, The Many Souls of the Human Being presents Damanhur's foundational claim that the human being is not a single soul inhabiting a body, but a community of souls in dynamic relationship — typically between five and eight distinct soul-presences sharing a single physical vehicle. This model — which Damanhur has explored and refined through decades of introspective practice, oracle consultations, and community dialogue — has profound implications for personal psychology, relational ethics, and spiritual development. The book explores how the multiple souls come into being, how they interact and sometimes conflict within a single individual, how they can be brought into greater harmony through Damanhurian practices, and what happens to them at death and between lives. A challenging, original, and deeply thought-provoking work that has influenced thinkers and practitioners far beyond Damanhur itself.

Letters from Damanhur

Falco Tarassaco (Oberto Airaudi)
A unique and unusually personal volume, Letters from Damanhur collects Falco's correspondence with community members, students, and seekers from around the world over three decades — spanning the secret years of Temple construction, the discovery and legal crisis of 1992, the period of public opening, and the community's growing international presence in the 2000s. The letters reveal a thinker and leader in dynamic relationship with real people and real situations: responding to doubt and spiritual crisis, celebrating breakthroughs, navigating conflict, and offering — with characteristic warmth and occasional sharpness — guidance that was always rooted in lived experience rather than abstract principle. The collection is introduced by three long-term community members who knew Falco across different periods of his life, and is accompanied by a biographical essay tracing the evolution of his thought across four decades.

Philosophy & Research Titles

Beyond Falco's own writings, the Damanhur community has produced a substantial body of research, philosophy, and applied knowledge — authored by community members and scholars who have worked within the community's unique intellectual environment.

Selfica
Selfica: The Science of Living Spirals
Edited by the Damanhur Research Community · 2022 · 384pp
The most comprehensive academic treatment of Selfica to date, this collaborative volume brings together contributions from Damanhur's internal research teams and sympathetic academic scholars to examine the science of living spirals from multiple angles: historical origins in Egyptian and Mediterranean antiquity; the theoretical physics of the Selfic field as Damanhur conceives it; 40 years of empirical results from community research including bioelectrical measurements, user experience reports, and longitudinal studies; the manufacturing tradition and its relationship to sacred metallurgy; and the contemporary application of Selfic principles in healing, communication, and environmental restoration. The volume includes 200 colour photographs of historic and contemporary Selfic objects, a complete glossary of technical terms, and a bibliography of scholarly sources engaging with Selfic principles from outside the community. This is both an insider account and a rigorous document — the most substantial piece of academic-quality research to emerge from Damanhur's internal knowledge tradition.
Plants
The Singing Forest: Plant Consciousness at Damanhur
Damanhur Plant Research Lab · 2019 · 248pp
In 1976 — a year before Backster's work on plant consciousness became widely known — Damanhur citizens began an independent research programme into the bioelectrical responses of plants. Over four decades, this programme developed into one of the most sustained and creative plant consciousness research traditions anywhere in the world, resulting in a proprietary technology for converting plant bioelectrical signals into musical tones — and in the now globally celebrated "Music of Plants" concerts in which plant musicians perform live alongside human musicians. The Singing Forest documents this entire tradition: the early experiments; the development of the bioelectrical interface technology; the emergence of what researchers began calling "plant intelligence" — responsive, emotionally inflected, apparently communicative behaviour in plants introduced to the musical interface; the discovery of species-specific musical tendencies; and the theoretical framework Damanhur researchers have developed to account for what they observe. A unique document of citizen science at its most ambitious and poetic.
Geometry
Sacred Geometry: The Architectural Language of the Temples
Damanhur Arts & Architecture Circle · 2021 · 312pp
Every element of the Temples of Humankind — from the placement of the nine halls within the mountain, to the proportions of individual mosaics, to the curvature of the carved ceiling vaults — was conceived and executed according to a coherent system of sacred geometric principles developed by Falco Tarassaco from his study of ancient Egyptian, Greek, and medieval European sacred architecture, combined with his own esoteric research into the relationship between geometric form and consciousness. This lavishly illustrated volume documents that system for the first time: explaining the geometric rationale behind each of the nine halls; tracing the influences of sacred geometry traditions across cultures; providing detailed diagrammatic analyses of key architectural and decorative elements; and exploring how sacred geometry principles are applied in Damanhur's ongoing community building projects. Includes 150 floor plans, elevation drawings, and geometric overlays produced by community architects. An indispensable reference for anyone studying the Temples seriously.
Research
Consciousness at the Edge: Damanhur Research 2000–2020
Damanhur Research Institute · 2023 · 420pp
A comprehensive anthology of twenty years of research reports, journal articles, conference presentations, and internal research documents from across Damanhur's major research programmes — Selfica, plant consciousness, bioelectricity, dream research, synchronic line mapping, and the study of subtle energetic phenomena associated with ceremony and meditation. Edited by the Damanhur Research Institute and peer-reviewed by an independent panel of academics in parapsychology, philosophy of mind, and environmental science. Each contribution is accompanied by an editorial note placing it in context within Damanhur's evolving research tradition and situating it within relevant academic discourse. The volume is frank about the methodological challenges of community-based research into anomalous phenomena, and includes several critical essays by community members examining the epistemological assumptions underlying Damanhur's research culture. A landmark document in the literature of consciousness studies and the study of intentional communities as sites of knowledge production.
Living History

Community Chronicles

Damanhur has documented its own history with unusual thoroughness — understanding that the experiment it represents is of interest not only to future citizens, but to anyone grappling with questions about what human community can look like. The Chronicles series brings together oral histories, archival photography, architectural surveys, and community journals spanning the full arc from 1975 to the present.

Volume I

The Secret Years: Founding and Temple Construction 1975–1992

Covering 1975 – 1992
The most extraordinary period in Damanhur's history — from the founding group of 24 gathering around Falco Tarassaco's vision, through the years of clandestine temple construction (night shifts, tunnelling by hand, decorating by torchlight), to the dramatic police discovery in June 1992 and the community's extraordinary decision to reveal the Temples rather than seal them. Drawn from community archives, personal diaries, oral history interviews with founding citizens, and Falco's own accounts. Includes floor plans, construction photographs, and a complete timeline of the underground works. One of the most remarkable documents in the literature of intentional community.
Volume II

Trial and Recognition: The Legal Years 1992–1999

Covering 1992 – 1999
The four years of legal proceedings that followed the Temple discovery were among the most publicly visible — and internally transformative — in Damanhur's history. This volume draws on court documents, press archives, internal community records, and interviews with citizens who navigated the crisis to tell the full story of how an underground society facing potential prosecution became, within a decade, an internationally recognised model of sustainable community development. Includes the full text of the Italian court's recognition judgment, the community's official response to the legal process, and reflections from citizens on how the crisis changed Damanhur's relationship to the wider world.
Volume III

Opening to the World: Public Life 1999–2013

Covering 1999 – 2013
The period from UN Environment Programme recognition in 1999 through Falco's death on his 63rd birthday in June 2013 — years of extraordinary creative and institutional expansion. Guided tours began, the School of Meditation opened internationally, the Credito complementary currency was formally launched, Damanhur became a founding member of the Global Ecovillage Network, the Music of Plants was first performed publicly, and the Temples were awarded the Guinness World Record. Richly illustrated with photographs from public events, concerts, community celebrations, and the intimate life of the nuclei during this period of opening.
Volume IV

After Falco: Collective Leadership 2013–Present

Covering 2013 – 2026
The most recent and in some ways most intimate volume — documenting Damanhur's navigation of the most significant transition in its history: from the era of charismatic founding leadership into a fully collective governance model. How does a community continue, deepen, and evolve after the death of its visionary founder? This volume explores that question through interviews with current leaders, policy documents from the community's transition period, accounts of the collective decision-making processes that have shaped Damanhur since 2013, and a frank examination of both the challenges and the extraordinary creative vitality of the post-Falco years. Includes coverage of the 11th Constitution signing in 2019, the COVID period, and the current 7th Temple level construction project.
The Oracle Tradition

Channelled Sacred Texts

Throughout its history, Damanhur has maintained an active oracle tradition — a structured practice through which specially trained citizens enter altered states to receive transmissions from the non-human intelligences that Damanhurian cosmology describes as the Quesiti and the PrimorDi. Three collections of these channelled texts have been formally edited and published for community use and general readership.

✦

The Quesiti Transmissions

Channelled 1979–1992 · Published 2000
The earliest and most cosmologically ambitious of the channelled collections, received through Falco Tarassaco and a circle of community oracles during the secret Temple construction years. The Quesiti Transmissions address the nature of the Quesiti — beings of pure consciousness who have elected to guide humanity's evolution and whose presence is most concentrated at the intersection of synchronic lines — their relationship to human history, the origins of the universe as understood from their perspective, and the specific mission they have invested in the Temples of Humankind as a living instrument for the regeneration of the planetary energy field. Dense, poetic, and philosophically challenging, these texts form the cosmological foundation of Damanhurian spirituality. Available in Italian and English with extensive editorial notes by three senior community scholars.
◈

The Book of the Hours

Channelled 1993–2005 · Published 2008
A more intimate and practically oriented collection than the Quesiti Transmissions, The Book of the Hours gathers channelled guidance on the structure of time, the nature of synchronic windows, the practice of aligning individual and community action with cosmic rhythmic patterns, and the development of what Damanhur calls "temporal consciousness" — an embodied awareness of one's location within cycles of time that extends from the hourly to the cosmic. The Hours are organised according to Damanhur's own sacred calendar, and each section corresponds to a specific temporal period with distinctive energetic qualities. Used extensively in community ceremony and as a guide for personal practice, this is perhaps the most practically useful of the channelled collections for those seeking to integrate Damanhurian principles into daily life.
⬡

The PrimorDi Dialogues

Channelled 2006–2013 · Published 2016
The PrimorDi — in Damanhurian cosmology, the primordial forces that preceded the formation of the material universe and whose intelligences still permeate the fabric of reality — are the subject of this final and perhaps most philosophically demanding of the channelled collections. Received primarily in the last years of Falco's life, the Dialogues take the form of extended exchanges between the oracle and the PrimorDi presences, exploring questions of creation, destruction, time, consciousness, and the ultimate destiny of the universe in a cosmic arc that spans orders of magnitude beyond human history. The collection is introduced by a long prefatory essay by Falco himself, reflecting on the oracle tradition and its epistemological status, and includes a technical appendix on the conditions under which the dialogues were received. Available in Italian and English. A third volume of channelled texts from the post-Falco period is currently in editorial preparation.

"To read Falco is to enter a conversation with one of the most original philosophical minds of the twentieth century — a thinker who chose community over academia, lived his ideas rather than merely writing them, and whose work is inseparable from the extraordinary human experiment it grew from."
