Plant Music Workshops
Learn to listen to plants. Our workshops take you from complete beginner to skilled practitioner — hands-on with the Music of Plants devices, learning the science, the practice, and the profound experience of botanical communication.
Learning to Hear What Plants Say
Our workshops are not simply about operating technology. They are invitations to a fundamentally different relationship with the plant world — one grounded in scientific rigour, sensory awareness, and genuine openness to the possibility that plants are communicating with us.
Scientific Foundation
Every workshop begins with the scientific basis for plant bioelectricity — from cell membrane physiology to the specific signal processing methods used in our devices. We want participants to understand what they are hearing.
Experiential Practice
Theory is quickly followed by hands-on time with the plants and devices. Participants attach sensors, configure instruments, and listen to plants improvise in real time — often within the first few hours of arrival.
Inner Listening
Beyond the technology, workshops explore the practices of attention, stillness, and empathic awareness that seem to enhance the quality of human-plant electrical interaction. The inner work is as important as the outer technique.
Community of Practice
Graduates join a global network of plant music practitioners who share data, recordings, experiences, and research findings. The workshop is an entry point into an ongoing collaborative community.

See Device PricingThe Art of Plant Listening
Beyond the technology, Damanhur's plant music workshops teach an inner discipline that researchers believe is central to the quality of the human-plant musical exchange. Plants respond differently to different people — and the key variable appears to be the quality of human attention.
Calm the Nervous System
Begin each session by settling into physical stillness and slow breath. Plants respond measurably to the heart rate variability and skin conductance of nearby humans.
Approach with Curiosity, Not Expectation
Plants are not performing for you. Enter the encounter with open attention rather than expectation of a specific musical result. Expectation creates tension; curiosity creates openness.
Speak Through Presence
Your presence, breath, body warmth, and slow movement communicate to the plant. Some practitioners report that plants respond to gentle touch on the soil near roots more than direct leaf contact.
Listen Without Analysing
In the early stages, simply listen. Resist the urge to label, interpret, or compare. The music will reveal patterns over time — but first it must simply be heard.
Maintain a Practice Journal
Record your sessions, noting plant species, time of day, weather conditions, your emotional state, and what you observed. Over weeks, meaningful patterns emerge from this data.
The Plant Knows You Are There
Research consistently shows that plant bioelectrical activity changes measurably when a familiar human enters the room — before any physical contact is made. The plant detects your approach through electromagnetic fields, air currents, CO₂ changes, and possibly other channels not yet identified. You are already in conversation before you touch a leaf.
Contribute to the Science
Workshop participants are invited to contribute to Damanhur's ongoing research programme. All contributions are voluntary and fully credited. Your data may help advance our understanding of plant bioelectrical communication.
Citizen Science Network
Graduates with personal devices are invited to submit regular plant music recordings to our global database. Data includes species, location, time, weather, and your observational notes. Over 1,200 citizen scientists currently participate.
Comparative Species Studies
Participate in structured species comparison studies — connecting your local plant specimens to our growing international database of bioelectrical signatures. Your plants may exhibit signatures not yet documented in any species.
Human-Plant Response Study
Wear a simple biometric sensor during your plant music sessions and contribute paired human-plant physiological data. This study is exploring whether and how human and plant bioelectrical patterns synchronise over time.
Certification Programme
Damanhur offers a progressive certification pathway for plant music practitioners — from Level 1 (Introductory) through to Level 4 (Research Associate). Certified practitioners gain access to restricted research data, special events, and the annual Practitioners' Symposium held at Damanhur each September.
Join an Upcoming Workshop
Workshops run monthly from March through November. All workshops include accommodation, meals, and all equipment. Places are limited to 12 participants per session to maintain the quality of individual attention.
