Five Ways to Go Deeper

Each retreat type is designed for a specific depth of engagement. First-time visitors often begin with the weekend format; returning visitors tend toward the 5-day. All are available year-round on a scheduled basis.

3 Days · Weekend Format
Meditation Retreat

A focused three-day programme built around Damanhurian meditation practices — practices that differ substantially from the mindfulness tradition in their relationship to consciousness, intention, and the energy body. The weekend includes two guided meditation sessions daily, a Temple visit on the second day, and one evening group practice with music. Accommodation is in the Damanhur community guest spaces — simple, clean, and quiet.

The most comprehensive retreat format, covering the core pillars of Damanhurian sacred science: the physics of consciousness, the Synchronic Lines (the energy network of the planet), Selfica (the science of spirals and consciousness), inner travel, and the relationship between individual and collective evolution. Each day focuses on one dimension, with evening integration sessions and daily Temple visits. Participants receive a reading list and workbook.

Selfica Immersion Weekend

A weekend dedicated entirely to the art and science of Selfica — Damanhur's distinctive discipline working with copper spirals, intention, and the consciousness of materials. You will learn to make your own Selfic object under the guidance of the Orocrea artisans, explore the philosophy of why spirals work, and understand how to work with Selfic objects you already have. The Orocrea workshop visit is a highlight of the weekend.

2 Days · Nature & Walking
Sacred Woods Walking Retreat

The Sacred Woods of Damanhur — the forest that surrounds the community — is itself a laboratory of consciousness research. Trees in the Sacred Woods have been worked with for decades using the Music of Plants technology, and many are participants in long-running Selfic research projects. This gentle walking retreat spends two days in deep relationship with the forest: guided walks, plant communication sessions, forest meditation, and evening reflection by firelight.

3 Days · Plant & Ecology Focus
Plant Consciousness Retreat

An in-depth exploration of Damanhur's half-century of research into plant intelligence — combining the Music of Plants technology with broader study of plant communication, mycorrhizal networks, and the emergent science of plant neurobiology. This retreat includes live plant music sessions with community plants, guided readings in contemporary plant science, forest immersions, and a cooking session using the community's organic harvest. Unlike a standard nature retreat, this one treats plants as the teachers.

Not a Yoga Studio.
Not a Spa.

There are ten thousand beautiful places you can retreat. There is one Damanhur.

The Depth of the Tradition

Most retreat centres offer programmes developed over a decade or less. Damanhur's practices have been developed, tested, refined, and applied over fifty continuous years by a community of hundreds living them every day. When a Damanhur teacher guides you in meditation, they are drawing on decades of their own practice within a tradition that runs deeper than almost anything available in the public world.

The Temples Themselves

The Temples of Humankind are not a backdrop. They are participants. Every retreat includes Temple access — not as a tourist attraction but as an active element of the programme. Being inside the Temples during a retreat session, rather than on a standard visit, is a profoundly different experience. The accumulated intention of fifty years of ceremonial practice is palpable in ways that no description can convey.

Real Research, Real Results

Damanhur is not a wellness brand. It is an ongoing research project into the nature of consciousness and community. The retreats draw from active research — findings and methods that are still being developed, tested, and refined. You are not attending a curated wellness experience; you are sitting with people who are genuinely investigating the questions they teach, and who bring the uncertainty and aliveness of real inquiry into every session.

Words That Returned With Them

"I have attended retreats in India, Costa Rica, and across Europe. The Meditation Retreat at Damanhur operates at a different level of depth than anything I have encountered. Not because of what was taught — but because of what was demonstrated by those doing the teaching. These people have actually been doing this for twenty, thirty years. You feel it."
— A, meditation teacher, Munich — 3-Day Meditation Retreat 2024
"I came as a scientist — a biologist — genuinely sceptical. I left with twelve pages of notes and three months' worth of questions I cannot stop thinking about. The Sacred Science Retreat showed me that there are people doing serious, consistent research into questions that mainstream science hasn't even framed yet. I am going back for the full 5-day."
— Dr. M, evolutionary biologist, Amsterdam — Sacred Science Retreat 2025
"The Sacred Woods retreat was unlike anything I could have expected. I went to 'spend time in nature.' What actually happened was that I started listening — really listening — to the forest, for the first time in my life. On the last morning I sat under a tree I had been visiting each day, and I cried for an hour. Not from sadness. From recognition."
