Selfica Workshops
Learn to create living energy forms from copper spirals, noble metals, and intentional geometry. Damanhur's selfic workshops teach an ancient and rediscovered art form in the same community that has practised it for 50 years.
Craft, Science, and Consciousness
Selfica workshops at Damanhur are not craft classes — though you will learn to work with your hands in new ways. They are invitations into a different understanding of matter, energy, and the role of human intention in shaping the world.
Scientific Foundation First
Every workshop begins with a thorough grounding in the scientific basis of Selfica — bioelectricity, subtle energy theory, the mathematics of the logarithmic spiral, and 50 years of experimental results. We do not ask participants to accept anything on faith.
Hands-On from Day One
Selfica is learned by doing. Within hours of arrival, participants are handling copper wire, forming spirals, and feeling the difference between properly and improperly wound selfic forms. The craft knowledge lives in the hands as much as the mind.
Intention as Technology
The most important teaching in the workshops: human intention is not merely a mental state but an active force that shapes the energetic character of selfic objects during their creation. Learning to hold clear, sustained intention is as much a part of the training as the physical craft.
A Living Tradition
Selfic knowledge is transmitted from practitioner to student in a living tradition that has been unbroken at Damanhur since 1975. Each workshop connects participants to this lineage — to 50 years of accumulated understanding that cannot be found in books.
Start Here: Your First Selfic Object
The 3-day beginner workshop takes participants from complete newcomer to someone who has created their own selfic object by hand — one they will carry home and begin to work with in their daily life.

What You Will Work With
All workshop materials are included in the course fee. Here is an overview of the primary materials and tools used in selfic construction at Damanhur — most of which are also available for purchase to take home.
Pure Copper Wire
99.9% pure copper in gauges from 0.5mm to 4mm. The primary material of selfic construction. Available in natural and patinated forms.
Gold & Silver Sheet
Used in advanced objects for housing, stabilisation elements, and amplification components. Sterling silver and 18-carat gold supplied in workshop.
Gemstone Accents
Selected gemstones used to enhance specific selfic functions — lapis for calm, citrine for energy, amethyst for spiritual sensitivity. Each stone is tested for energetic quality before use.
Liquid Compounds
Concentrated organic compounds used in the sealed chambers of selfic objects. The formulas are proprietary to Damanhur; prepared samples are provided to workshop participants.
Winding Mandrels
Precision wooden and metal mandrels of Fibonacci-proportioned diameters, used to guide the winding of copper spirals to correct golden-ratio specifications.
Geometric Templates
Precision-printed templates for multi-spiral object assembly — ensuring correct angular spacing, golden angle intervals, and overall geometric harmony in complex pieces.
Measuring Tools
Calibrated calipers, golden ratio dividers, and spiral measurement gauges. Selfic construction requires precision measurement — the course includes training in all necessary measuring skills.
Natural Sealing Materials
Beeswax, pine resin, and other natural sealants for closing liquid chambers and protecting copper surfaces. All natural, no synthetic materials used in any selfic object.
The Inner Work of Selfic Creation
The most challenging and most important aspect of selfic construction is not the physical winding of copper — it is the cultivation and maintenance of clear, sustained intention throughout the creation process. This is the subject of an entire workshop module.
Clarifying Your Purpose
Before a single copper spiral is wound, you must be absolutely clear about what you intend this selfic object to do. Vague intentions produce vague objects. The workshop's first exercise is a structured inquiry process for arriving at precise, actionable selfic intentions.
Single-Pointed Concentration
The winding of a selfic spiral typically takes 3–8 hours. During this entire period, the artisan must hold their intention clearly and steadily — not suppressing other thoughts, but returning consistently to the core purpose whenever attention wanders.
Emotional Quality of Intention
Research suggests that the emotional quality of the artisan's state during construction shapes the selfic object's character. Objects created in calm joy seem to sustain a different energetic character than objects created in distraction or anxiety.
Working in Flow States
Experienced selfic artisans often enter what psychologists call "flow states" — optimal, absorbed attention — during extended winding sessions. Learning to reliably access this state is a key advanced skill developed over many sessions of practice.
"A selfic object is not merely shaped by the hands. It is shaped by the mind and heart of its maker — by the quality of attention sustained through every turn of the spiral. The copper remembers."
The Selfic Practitioner Path
Damanhur offers a formal certification pathway for selfic practitioners — from beginner to Research Associate. Each level unlocks new knowledge, techniques, and privileges within the Damanhurian selfic tradition.
Selfic Listener
Awarded upon completion of the introductory weekend workshop. Holders can create simple single-spiral selfic objects and are invited to the quarterly Selfic Circle gatherings at Damanhur.
Selfic Practitioner
Awarded upon completion of the advanced course plus 3 months of personal practice with documented portfolio. May create multi-spiral personal objects and environmental selfica.
Master Selfic Artisan
Awarded by the Damanhurian Selfic Council after sustained practice, demonstrated mastery of complex construction, and contribution to the community's research programme. Eligible to teach beginner and advanced courses.
Upcoming Workshop Dates
Workshops run monthly from March through November. All workshops are residential — accommodation and meals are included — with a maximum of 10 participants per session to preserve the quality of individual instruction.
